We are so thankful for our precious baby boy. We cannot know how or why God chooses to do things or allows things to happen, but we are praying for those who are hurting today and thanking God for the miracle he has blessed us with, David Franklin.

Bobbing for Puffs

This weekend was one of the best I've had in a long time. Friday night Anna and Drew got engaged and they are both some of my favorite people in the world. It was so sweet and precious! Saturday we went on the lake and it was the icing on the cake.

Happy Belated Father's Day to you daddies out there. We have special dads in our families and we love you all. Franklin, you are the best dad I know and your love and support is invaluable to us. WE LOVE YOU!

David Franklin is having some issues with separation anxiety lately. If I turn my back and walk to the kitchen, he gets his feelings hurt and lets out the biggest cry. This also happens with Franklin. It is getting better though, than the beginning of last week. I am constantly saying "I'll be right back, I'm going...." which is what the books say to do. Pretty annoying to anyone else around but it's working so I will keep telling my every move.

He has also started "self feeding" with Graduates Puffs and Yogurt Melts. He loves this and knows how to put them in his mouth by hand but, he also has an alternative way. He gets the cherry puffs in both hands, and then licks the others off of the table/high chair. I guess he's saving the ones in his hands for later. It's hilarious!! Then when we laugh, he coughs as loud as he can and dances (bounces up and down) which makes us laugh even harder. It's better than watching SNL these days... well maybe not if Justin Timberlake is on.

Early Bird

Hello bloggers! I have been terrible at updating the past few weeks. I have really missed it but we've been busy, blah, blah, blah!

This summer we have been outdoors as much as we can. Franklin has been playing golf, we've been swimming a lot and trying to stay cool. My brother, Jason, had a weekend full of wedding parties and showers in H.S., Little Rock and Dallas and we went to all of them! We have been celebrating him and his bride-to-be and it was so nice being with them and sharing in their excitement!

David Franklin has been growing so much these past 2 weeks. His teeth are starting to really show. He has gotten long and he is trimming up. He pulls up on everything, high fives and even dances! It's a blast, the only bad development is he wants to start his day at 5:30am which is REALLY early for his parents. No matter if he goes to bed at 7:30 or 9:00, if I cut a nap out or not, he is up at 5:30 on the dot everyday and so are we. He must get his sleep habits from his Grampe, Hal :)

8 Months!!

How can my baby be 8 months old already? Why does pregnancy drag on for what seems like forever and once the baby gets here, it flies by? I guess the whole "time flies when you're having fun" theory applies in this case.

At this point it seems like David Franklin is doing new things everyday! He is in an awkward stage where he gets himself into some things he can't get out of. Some real pickles...like pulling himself up and into the splits in his playpen and getting stuck. I wouldn't like that either!!! Franklin tells me he will figure it all out and I know he will but it still makes me nervous. When I hear big cries now, it isn't like before when I knew he was hungry. Now I have no idea what I'm going to find or what may have happened!

Since we haven't been to the doctor in a while to get any new stats, I will share what he is doing today. (Mostly for my benefit, so I don't forget)

-Claps during patty cake
-Waves bye bye, sort of- more like slams his arm around
-Can pull up on anything and takes a few, very unsteady steps while holding on for dear life! This boy can't sit back down but he can scale a wall (or crib)
-So sweet and ducks his head when gets embarrassed
-Pats you when he gets excited to see you (the whole slamming arm thing again)
-Lights up when he sees his daddy, grandmothers and especially his dog!
-No more nursing, unfortunately.
-Loves everything he's ever eaten, except prunes--but he still polished off the bowl.
-Still in size 3 diapers
-2 teeth on the bottom gum that he doesn't like to show
-Scream laughs, especially when he is getting some sugar or I sing silly songs!
-Takes 3 naps a day
-Sleeps 10-11 hours at night, wakes up at 6am like clockwork
-Loves bath time

He's a precious boy and we LOVE him so much!! I'm SO thankful for these 8 months!
