San ANtonio (as DF says it)

For Fall Break, we got a jump on things and went to San Antonio a little early.  Meme got DF a book on the Alamo and Jim Bowie when he was very young and he's been interested in knives, and the Alamo ever since.  He has been asking and asking to go on this trip and his wish came true!  Just  a little after his 9th birthday!

Meme and Grandpa take good care of us, and we are so thankful for this time with them, and together as a family.  One of my favorite quotes is this; "The most beautiful things in life are not things. They're people, and places, and memories and pictures. They're feelings and moments and smiles and laughter."  I believe this, I believe that life is a collection of places and faces and memories, and pictures and stories and time spent with ones we love the most.  We did this, and you all know I like to take lots of pictures! Part of the beauty of this trip is that we did lots of things that Hal did with his grandparents.  He is repeating the story of what was important to him as a child, and it's now become important to my children.  I notice and really appreciate that.  My kids do too.
We stayed at the Menger Hotel, ate great meals, went on the River Walk cruise, to the Alamo and Jim Bowie exhibit (first thing!), SeaWorld and more.... basically if it was in the San Antonio tourist book for things to see in 2 days, we did it!
It was really fun to be together and get away from it all for a while, Isaac is sick to his stomach now so we are hoping that passes quickly and as painlessly as possible.  It isn't a vacation until a Bass kid gets sick, but we are working on that ! ;)

DFB has a PAR-TEE!

David Franklin wanted a golf party so Leo, the Jr. Golf Pro had a private lesson with them with games and competions and then we went up the the crow's nest for cake and pizza.  He had a lot of his best buddies there and had a great birthday!!!  We love this boy for so many reasons and it thrilled us to see him so happy with his buds.  We love you, David Franklin and you are special, kind, and smart and a ton of fun to be around.  Happy Birthday!

David Franklin is 9!

DFB turned nine on Tuesday and had a great birthday!  We start early around here on birthday mornings and he opened gifts, had cinnamon rolls, I went and had lunch with him at school, gifts after school at Mammers, guitar lesson and then we went to Buffalo Wild Wings with Meme and Grandpa for dinner and chocolate cake!  He had a great day and I'm so happy because he's a great boy.  Unique, smart, kind, thoughtful, polite, I could go on and on.  DF, we couldn't love you more or be more proud of you!
