End of year awards

Nora and DF both had their end of year awards ceremonies on Wednesday night.  Nora received the Citizenship award (my personal fave) and Honor Roll of all As and Bs.  DF got the honor roll of all As all year.  I love that they love school and learning.  I know many do not.
There was an award for reading 2,000 pages in the school year.  DF has read probably close to 5-8,000 so we thought he'd get that one for sure.  Turns out, it was a book club that he had to sign up for and read those specific selections to get the award.  He did not like that club so he didn't sign up or get the recognition.  I'll be honest and at first thought, sign up next time so you can get the recognition you deserve but then Franklin and DF corrected my thinking, that it doesn't matter.  He isn't reading to get awards, he's reading for fun and that is the BEST reason to read anyway.  Proud of these little people and who they are and becoming right before my eyes!  THANKFUL.

Isaac had his end of year pizza party and slideshow in his class yesterday and I got teary.  Such a sweet year he's had and preschool is now a thing of the past for the Bass children.  He's made new friends, and learned a lot.  He is excited, yet nervous about Kindergarten next year but by the time that rolls around, he'll be great!
Maddie Paddie picked them up after school for a Sonic run and it was a great surprise.  Last day today and then we are ready for summer break!

Nora's 8th Birthday party

Nora got to have 3 friends spend the night for her birthday.  Her friend, Blakely, has a birthday the day after hers so it was a double celebration.  They wanted to go see the new Aladdin in their pjs, and then they came to my house for pizza, cake, spa treatments, make overs on each other and me and Mammers and lots of giggles.  The boys decided they would head out to Meme and Grandpa's for the night and Mammers spent the night to help me and we all had a blast and these girls were sweet and cracked us up.  I am not allowed to post Mammers make over pics, but let's just say they tried liquid eye liner and they are something!!!!

4th Grade Talent Show

DF and his buddies participated in the 4th grade talent show and did an awesome Hip Hop dance.  They rocked the stage!!!  It was so much fun to watch, and DF even got asked for autographs afterwards so he's feeling pretttty good about it.  Two high school cheerleaders choreographed and taught them the dance so they loved practicing and everything about it.  Pretty blonde teenagers bot a lot more of their attention than what this dorky mom was going to try to teach them :)

Nora has learned the entire dance, Isaac has learned a lot of it too and they want to do the very same dance when they get to 4th grade.

Musicals

Nora's 2nd grade musical was Aslope's Fables and she was a hare.  It was super cute and she was really into.
DF, not so much.  He was much less enthusiastic about his than he's ever been and said it was babyish... after watching it, I'd have to agree.  We got some kicks out of seeing those boys sing "meow, meow, meow" over and over again!

Track and Field Days

Trying to get a non-silly picture with nora progression.  Her daddy calls her goose and she has earned that nickname because she sure is a silly goose!  She had a great attitude and was a good sport during her track and field day.  It was what it's all about, fun!

It was DF's last one, he will have different activities in the Middle School building.  Bittersweet, but he also tried hard and had fun and a good attitude.  At this age many only want the blue ribbons.  He was trading his top ribbons for lesser ones because his friend didn't have a third place white ribbon and he had 3.  Love it, especially when I saw tears and people really getting overly competitive  and missing the point of such a fun day.

Easter 2019

Only a few pics of our Easter weekend, but we took plenty.  I can't remember an Easter as a kid when we didn't all line up on Mam and Pap's front steps for numerous family photos.  Back then they were on film and you didn't know how they'd turn our until they were developed and most didn't turn out well, but they are fond memories for me~
We carry on many of the traditions today with Church, (now brunch at the HSCC), our house for an egg hunt, bunny cake, Easter pinata, and even hitting the real eggs with golf clubs.  It's a special day and a favorite for many of the kids now too.

Meme and Nora go to a Tea Party

Meme and Nora were off last week to a Tea Party with Miss Arkansas.  It was a fundraiser for a great cause, and Nora got an etiquette lesson and loved dressing up with her grandmother and friends!

NYC

Franklin has accepted a new job with Arvest Bank and had a week off of work before he started.  We took advantage of that time and booked a last minute trip to New York.  It was short but super sweet and just what we needed.  We didn't do many touristy things but stayed in Soho and ate our way through the city.  We had great meals, cocktails, and weather.  We loved our time and it was a great getaway from the May crazy schedule for me and stress for him.  We can't wait to go back- but the kids say they are coming next time!! :)
