4th of July celebrations

First trip to a firework stand....DF loved it, Nora was a little scared.

Georgia Green weighs less than Isaac- she's 9 months old.

We kicked off the weekend with a cookout at the Russell's pool (or bootsie and doc's) with the Choates, Greens, and Herndons. We had such a fun night swimming, small fireworks and eating burgers and dogs!

On the 4th we went to the Cupps to swim and play on the lake with the Feilke's. It was great to see them and many others from college with their kiddos. A thumb in the mouth and a hand in a bag of cheetos- nora was a sleepy, but happy girl.

We ended the night at the McFarlands for a big party. There were tons of people there, including Jerry VanDyke. It's always fun to be with Amy and being out there brings me back to my high school days there. We played volleyball, which was a highlight for me and David F loved being right under the firework display. It was a special moment. The little ones stayed behind at Mammers and although we missed them it was for the best and DF enjoyed getting the one on one time.

Bass kids well child check up

The whole Bass family went for check ups today and all 3 children needed shots. Dr. Slay suggested I bring in reinforcements for this so franklin was able to join us thankfully! I did not take pictures at the doctors office as you can imagine how chaotic it was but I got some at home afterwards. 

DF got his last booster shot for kindergarten and was very brave- didn't shed a tear!

Nora was happy and proud to tell Dr. Slay she got her tonsils out. He was very impressed by how well she was healing and mostly how happy her spirits were. Said there was still a small amount of scabbing that will fall off this week. He said many are still complaining of pain at this point but Nora hasn't in 5 days! 

She is 34 lbs and 38 inches tall. She was in the 70th percentile on both height and weight. Said her growth and development are great! She had to play catch up on her immunizations since she's been sick so much and couldn't get them at "well child" check ups. She even had one from her 18 month mark she was late on so poor thing had 4 shots today. It was awful and Franklin and the nurse had to restrain her. Franklin had a bite mark on his arm from her but it's all over and she's caught up- whew! I gave her Motrin before we went to prepare for it.

Isaac is 26 inches long and 20lbs and 3 oz. His head circumference is 17". He is still on the charts, but barely. 

97% in weight....Dr. Slay said so out of 100 babies, only 3 would be bigger. He also said that they would be formula fed. Isaac is exclusively breast fed. Although I bought some formula just in case and he said it's time to start with the rice cereal. 

What Ikey's up to:

He's in size 4 diapers, has found his feet and is starting to grab for toys, he can roll over from his back to his tummy but not the other way. He gets quite mad on his tummy. He smiles and laughs easily, he isn't swaddled anymore and seems to have begun teething. Nothing has come through but he has lots of drool, hands in his mouth and his sleeping has been horrible this week- worse week of sleep for him. He's been up about 5 times a night, about every 1-2 hours crying. I don't think he's hungry so Slay suggested Tylenol before bed to ease the pain. We will be praying that helps! He isn't on a schedule as much as the others were and I would like for him to be on more of one but it would be very difficult for our family if he was to scheduled right now. For instance, he still falls asleep after almost every feeding. He takes 3-4 naps each day. Some times they are little cat naps in the early morning or evening with longer naps at the regular morning and afternoon nap times. This is something I have trouble regulating since these cat naps often occur in the car. Yesterday I needed to go pick up DF and Nora so his crib nap was interrupted but he fell back asleep in the car. He's very adaptable that way and he needs to be or we couldn't live our lives and would be trapped at home. His feedings are every 3-4 hours though and pretty regulated so that helps. I wish his naps were more scheduled and will be happy when that happens but it's likely to not be until the end of the summer when school starts. 

Other than this trouble at night, he's the perfect baby. He's starting to coo too. He likes his Paci, but doesn't love it or need it like he used to. He can easily fall asleep without it when we are out and about but likes it in his bed. Slay said he is a Paci fan so we will keep it around. 

We are blessed with a good report on all of our children. We thank God for good health!!

After naps I called out for Nora and she said I'm right here...I said where and followed her voice. She said "in here, Isaac was crying so I came in here to check in him." Boy oh boy do they love  their" baby bubbie". 

We also went to the pool tonight for an evening swim and dinner. They love swimming with their daddy.

Mommie Boo has lived quite a life and leaves a wonderful legacy of love from her children, grand children and great grand children.  Franklin has always had great affection for his grandmother and we are very blessed to have her in our lives. Happy Birthday, Boo! 

She also happens to share a birthday with Jack Johnson who turned 7 on Saturday so it is a special day indeed! 

Toy graduation

This guy is growing up on me! These past couple of weeks/days he's turned into a baby and not an infant in many ways! He's in his high chair, bouncing seat and loves to be sitting up in the action.

He's found his toes and loves to hold them, he also likes reaching for toys and is sticking things in his mouth which makes me think teeth may be making an appearance shortly. He's also a rolling machine and rolls from his back to his tummy almost immediately after you lay him down. H hasn't turned from tummy to back yet and gets mad if he's stuck for too long. The swaddle days are coming to an end- or at least with the arms in. Also, notice how he's smiling big in every picture?! That's because he's such a happy little guy and lights up when he sees his family!

Aubrey Kate and Mrs. Kim came by to visit and played a round of Old Maid with us that was lots of fun! 

This boy has been very entertained with play dates with friends, a sleepover at Avery's and kinder kamp in the mornings that he was WORN OUT! Never seen him so tired before. This was him on the floor in the living room for 3 hours with lots of activity around him. Out through it all. 

Nora complained of pain in the morning but honestly her mosquito bites seem to be bothering her more than her throat.  She has don't remarkably well with a few small bumps in the road. She doesn't like getting woken up at night for her medication but we aren't sure if she's just tired or hurting. Either way, we are going to do it for 2 more nights like the doctor suggested just to be sure. Everyday, we are one day closer to healing!! :)

Patient update day 2

Our girl has done remarkably well! Other than a few bumps in the road, she's really bounced right back. Hard to believe she's even had surgery! She's been wanting to run and play, yelling and had her appetite back yesterday. 

She is drinking lots of chocolate milk, popcicles, and ice cream but she really enjoyed watermelon and pasta! 

David franklin has been a super sweet big brother and has been busy with play dates with friends and a 1/2 day camp at lakeside. 

Meme has been here every day, all day and been AMAZING support to us all! 

Baby bubbie has spent the past 2 nights at mammers camp with Westly Albright and had a big time! 

Huddy came to visit and was a highlight in our day for Nora!

We still have some long days ahead but Nora has been a great patient after her "T and A" ( tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy)  We were at the hospital at 6:30, she went back for surgery around 9:00 and we were home before 12:00. It was a quick procedure and once she woke up and drank some juice we were able to come home! They said she did awesome and her tonsils needed to come out... They were enlarged and he said full of puss and that you usually see in teenagers, not little bitty ones! 

We are still praying for her pain to be minimal and for her to get the rest she needs. 

Thank you friends and family for you help, love and prayers. It was a scary thing watching your baby get wheeled back for surgery, even outpatient surgery.  

She wanted her daddy to hold her and her daddy to go back with her. He was her man from start to finish and I think she made an excellent choice (only 1 parent could go back). He is soothing and comforting unlike any other to me too, baby girl, and a great care taker.  I'm very thankful this day is behind us and the worst is behind us, hopefully!!!
