He's 9 months old

Big 9 month old! He had a well doctors appointment and his stats are: 23 lbs 96th percentile, 50th in length and he has a big head...that's what the doctor said. Good, he's smart and confident :)

What he's up to;

Crawling, pulling up and cruising everywhere. He's soooo busy and likes to be in the action. I can't let him out of my sight for a second but often times the others need me so he's carried around on my hip a LOT which makes us both happy. 

He wears size 4 or 5 diaper

He has 4 bottles a day and likes warm bottles. 

He eats everything you give him, but he's aggregated with being spoon fed. He likes to do it himself so he's eating peas, bananas, rice, and soft things thf he can eat in his own. He loves it all, but not a fan of yogurt.  Maybe because it's cold? 

He's sleeping well but has been waking up at night some. We all have colds so I think that's to blame. Update: not just a cold, a double ear infection, sore throat and croup.  What a trooper.  He's on the mend now and sleeping from 7pm-7am now.  Which is what all the books say he should do, and yet he is the first child I think that has truly slept a full 12 hours like that.  Hope I didn't just jinx it.

He's loves balls and peek a boo. He likes to be outside and swinging. He's also veeerrrrrry close to saying some words.  His Meme got him repeating Uh oh and he was saying Un-uh  last night (which is repeating what I said to him when he tried to eat the soap.)

It's been a long time since I've had a day with just my firstborn. It was such a fun day and special time with him, his class and new friends.

They really wanted me to dress up as the other Frozen sister, Anna. So I obliged for the loop around the neighborhood. Then we headed off to friends house for more trick or treating fun.

Halloween has lasted a full week at this house- whew! I'm ready for November! 

Brag time!

Bragging mom alert....I just cannot contain it.  Here is my first time Honor Roll student! I cannot tell you the pride I feel when I look at this face.  Not because of the glowing report we heard from his teacher at his first parent/teacher conference last week, but because of his loving heart and his sweet unique spirit.  He has entered into Kindergarten with ease and has a genuine joy for learning!  His teacher says everything she gives him, he grabs and wants to learn more and more about it, and asks Why? and How?  a lot.  He is curious and remembers everything.  He has grown up more the past 2 months than he has the past 2 years.  It almost took my breath away when I looked at him the other day and saw how long and lean he's gotten and his new haircut makes him look 14! It breaks my heart a little, I am not going to lie.  But it also, makes it soar. I feel both. 

  

He has been asked to begin the accelerated reader program, where he gets to pick out a book from the library each day, bring it home and read it with us, and then he has a short comprehension quiz on it upon return the next day.  This means he's reading a new book every night.  It has been fun for him to do and I can tell he's really picking it up quickly.  

David Franklin, your mommy is your #1 fan.  Now and always, no matter what,  and now that you are learning to read.... I hope when you read this for the first time you will already know this because of how often you hear it.  Well I guess it's a tie with your daddy, because you may never know how proud he is of you. We love who you are, exactly uniquely you.  

Here he is coloring pictures and writing sentences...for fun.  An activity he was not interested in before. 

All A's!  100 in Math, 100 in Conduct and 96% in Literacy (which was the highest in the class).  He also got a free kids meal from Jose's which he cannot wait to use!  Tonight, perhaps.

Here is this superhero on superhero day, going into his first Red Ribbon Week (Drug Free and Proud).  He's learning about strangers, drugs and things he's never heard about before.  Although I know it's important to teach kids these things and start those conversations, it makes me a little sad.  I don't want him to know about these dangers just quite yet.  I guess we can't live in a bubble forever, but the innocence of childhood is precious to me, and something try to preserve for as long as I can.  The yucky stuff comes soon enough.  

Pumpkin Patch

We had family fun day and went to Garner Pumpkin Patch this weekend. The pumpkins were pretty much gone and it was 80+ degrees outside, but the kids ran through the corn trails, looked for arrowheads, played on the tunnels, loved the petting zoo and the animal show- the goat's name was Jill so that was a big hit and laugh. It was a great day together!

Halloween is almost as busy as Christmas- we have something every night this week. Candy galore!! And multiple costumes (because they rarely want to wear the same costume) coming up soon!
