Go Badgers!!

The Chaney and Bass boys (dads included)

Can I eat this tail??

I'm going to try!!

Playing before bathtime!

We have had a busy week this week with work and events and so this weekend has been mellow and very nice (add Borat accent there :)

We went to Will's birthday party today- he turned 2! It was a school bus party and it was so cute!!! There was even a real school bus with balloons and the kids loved it. Will is VERY into buses, trucks, cars, etc. David Franklin didn't quite appreciate the bus yet, but the big kids sure did!! We love our Arkadelphia friends so it was so nice to get together with them, even for just a little bit.

Tonight we are cooking dinnner and staying in. We are liking being HOME these days!! The April showers we're having make the couch, DVR, and fire (yes, I know it's almost summer but I have a fire going) so inviting!

1st Easter!

Christ the Lord has Risen Today!! I love Easter. It was one of my very favorite holidays growing up. We would always go to Glenwood after church and have a huge egg hunt, crack a pinata, and then hit the eggs off of a ridge with my Pap-paw's old golf clubs. Weird traditions- I know, but that is what made it so much fun!

David Franklin got to meet Lilly Johnson yesterday. I'm not sure if he wanted to eat her or "kiss" her but either way, he liked what he saw! My friend, Abby, spent the night with us last night and it was fun for her to be here with us when we woke up (early) this Easter morning! We went to early church, had a breakfast brunch with Gammers, then went to the Bass's to play and eat lunch with the Vaught cousins. Meme had her own "egg hunt" for David Franklin which was laying plastic eggs on a blanket and letting him roll over grabbing them...it was a success! He really loved it!

I love all of the colors, candy, eggs, outfits and celebration Easter holds but I am most grateful that Christ died and rose again for us to live eternal life with Him. Franklin remembers every Easter his Mimi saying, "Christ has Risen." What a precious memory for him and one that reminds us of the gift of life this day holds. Happy Easter everyone!

Happy Anniversary!

Today is our 3 year wedding anniversary. Franklin and I have been married 3 years, but together around 10 years- CRAZY!! Not to be cheesy and gush about how much I love my husband but the more I learn about him, the more I love who he is. I respect him tremendously. I hope Martina McBride won't mind me borrowing her sentiments from her "Blessed" song but the lyrics just seem to fit today...

I have been blessed
With so much more than I deserve
To be here with the ones
That love me
To love them so much it hurts
I have been blessed

So much for the not being chessy and gushing, but who was I kidding?? Seriously.

I'm loving this sunshine!! It's still a little chilly but we had to go outside and play in our new front yard on such a pretty day. It was also a good opportunity to practice sitting up because there is slope (so that helped hold his weight up so we sort of cheated). He did really well, but ended up in a face plant on the grass- play time over!

Last night we tried sweet potatoes for the first time and OH MY!! He has liked just about everything he has tried so far. Not oatmeal, but really everything else. We are introducing the baby food; green first, orange second, fruit third, meat (if we do meat) last. We are to the orange veggies and he is loving them! Last night after the 2nd bite of sweet potatoes he was hooked. He was literally shaking in his high chair fixated on that jar. (I was kind of scared actually) He was diving for them and cried when he polished off the first jar so I opened up a second and in no time it was gone!! He started to cry for even more until I distracted him enough for him to forget about it. I've never seen anything like it- it was like it was chocolate or wine or something. I guess I will be buying some more sweet potatoes today...I can't imagine what he is going to do when we get to applesauce!

BIG week!

Ok, so it's time for a little catch up. A lot has happened this week!

Last weekend we went to David and Ann Aday's rehearsal dinner and wedding in Little Rock. They are a really cute couple and the wedding was a blast. The Rockets played and they are one of my favorite wedding bands! There was some hilariously BAD dancing that made me cry I was laughing so hard. So much fun!

Sunday, we went to Glenwood to my Pap's church and it was so special. He hasn't been in over a year due to his declining health and everyone was so happy to see him. They asked him to stand after they played his video, and once he sat down the whole congregation stood up and gave him a standing ovation. So touching and wonderful a tribute to him...it felt kind of like that scene in "The Holiday" when the old man walks in with Kate Winslet- but better!

All throughout this week/weekend we were moving load after load to the new house. We had many people help us (watching DF, cooking, unwrapping, etc) and I don't know what we would have done without them. My mom was amazing through this whole process! We stayed at her house for several nights and she fed us, watched DF for us after we put him down we would come and work for a few more hours. She took off a day at work and helped me totally unpack the kitchen (huge deal, boxes galore!)

We spent our first night Wednesday night and we were exhausted but so happy to be here. We had a champagne toast and one of our favorite new neighbors (Mrs. Stella:)) brought our dinner. She is a WONDERFUL cook! She knows how much I love her chocolate cake and guess what she brought...YUM! I'm trying not to eat some for breakfast now and it is taking lots of restraint.

And last but not least- today is my baby's 6 month birthday!!! I can't believe he is 1/2 a year old. How does this happen so fast? I may be weird on this but it makes me sad in a way... I don't want him to grow up too soon. You really see the value of each day when you watch a baby grow up. Happy 6 months David Franklin! WE. LOVE. YOU!!!

Pap-paw

My Pap-paw is one of the most amazing men I know. I can't put into words how much I love him. He is kind, gentle natured, and genuinely good. Not to mention CUTE! This Sunday is his church's 100 Year Anniversary. This is the only church he has ever been a member of in his life. They asked him to say a few words on Sunday but he is too nervous so yesterday we recorded him and they will play the video instead. He is the church's longest member. Pap turns 83 on Tuesday so that is a lifetime member! This Sunday we will all go to Glenwood and Pap will stand during the service and they will play this video. My whole family is so proud of him and his life. He is so precious.

(Having technical difficulties uploading video- it has taken all day and still isn't working...sorry. I will keep trying)

I am loving this sunshine and warm weather!!! We had dinner outside on our balcony and we're trying to soak up the last week in the condo. Lots going on at our new house and it is so much fun to go by and see what all has happened each day. I couldn't go yesterday so I can't wait to go today and check it all out! We are doing mostly little things, like some light fixtures and painting cabinets, etc, so they are going to be pretty subtle changes but I think the overall impact is going to be great. It is so exciting and I'm having so much FUN!

Last night David Franklin had his 1st real, on purpose, all the way ROLL OVER! I know he's kind of late, but I'm sure it takes a lot of extra effort for someone his size! He has gotten unbelievably close for a month now and has done it on accident but we haven't counted it yet. Once he did it the first time last night, he did it 5 times (on both sides) in 5 minutes! We are so proud! I tried to get a video and picture of it, but of course I just couldn't pull it together. He often starts to roll over, but gets distracted by those delicious toes. I happen to agree with him and could eat those precious feet up!!
