David Franklin heard about the Father/Daughter date and requested one of our own. His date: He asked for me to "wear athletic clothes, go to the steak house, sporting goods store and bumper boats. Sounds like a winner to me! I didn't even have to change :) We went to Outback Steakhouse where he wanted pink steak, and loved it, and then we got head to toe Under Armor because he's a bit into matching UA outfits. We did bumper boats and then dried off in the go carts. I can get used to date nights like that.
We had a great time and I hope he remembers this time together, I know I will!
And the cutest thing you ever did see!!! I will give a full count of what's he's up to next month, along with his stats but I have to say; his smile and eyes just make me melt. He also looked pretty stinking cute for church on Sunday.
David Franklin went on his first float trip down the Caddo River on Saturday. It was a father/son trip and Franklin said it was the best day! He said DF loved every minute and fished off the front of the canoe most of the time. He said he casted, and took care of his own hooks and everything! He even caught the biggest fish of the day, men included.

As much fun as the float was, we were mighty proud to open the paper on Sunday and see the Kindergarten academic awards... 3 were listed for Kindergarteners and David Franklin Bass received every award. Top reading, Top Math, Perfect Conduct all year. This has nothing to do with us... He was born smart and sweet and with an inquisitive mind, AND he's had wonderful teachers!! We are so proud of this boy!!!!
We had a full weekend of family, friends, fireworks, and fun on the Fourth of July!
We spent the night at the Herndon's lake house Friday night and let the kids swim, shoot off small fireworks, and night fishing. After the kids were in bed, the adults played games!
On Saturday we went to the McFarlands lake house with my a few of high school friends and their kids. Great day! So much has changed, but so much has stayed exactly the same.
DF and the Hurtado boys
Nora and Louisa were slow to get to know each other, then they bonded over cupcakes and totally hit it off.
Cassie loves her Nora!
Then we headed to #9 for a clam bake dinner, our very own parade, and a family sleepover. We got to stay up late to watch the fireworks show on the lake. Well, all of us but Isaac and Grandpa. They were fast asleep :)
These two are buds!
If you're happy and you know it, clap your baby hands.
DF has been at Family Farm this week which is a Christian, outdoor adventure day camp. He did archery, camping, horseback riding, fishing, zip lining, and more! He had a great experience and can't wait to go again next year.
He had a great group!
Nora has had swimming lessons with Mrs. Amanda Morgan and is doing great!
She also had a special date night with her daddy. She called him at 5:00 and asked her to take her on a date. She wanted to wear a crown and a fancy dress and wanted him to wear "handsome clothes". It's not often he come home from work and puts on a tie! He sure loves that daughter of his because he wore a coat and tie, took her for steak and shrimp and ice cream and she even walked in with a new dress and shoes. Her smile was stuck on her face even the next morning! He sure set the bar high, which I believe was intentional. :)
Isaac has just gone along for the ride with it all and is the cutest thing. We did make it to a concert at the library and a little play ground time this week. He also had fun swimming with his little buddies one night while the daddies were golfing. We all light up when we see his sweet face.
He actually loved the music but not a fan of getting close to "Leonardo" who Nora told she thought he was a ninja turtle! :)
The ladies had a lunch/ pool party Saturday afternoon at my friend Ashley's house on the lake while they guys golfed.
Franklin played in the HSCC 4ball golf tournament last weekend and we had Jeff and Randi spent the weekend with us. Franklin played great golf and had a lot of fun! The ladies had fun at the dinners or what we started calling "mom prom"
I am Amanda and I love being a wife and mother. I have the family of my dreams! Motherhood is the most fulfilling, exhausting, rewarding, difficult, fun, and important calling on my life right now. Franklin and I have been married for over 9 years and I am lucky I get to live life with such a great husband and father. We are the proud parents of David Franklin, Nora and Isaac. We have a puppy, Maple, who has added lots of energy to the house! ;) We love to travel, spend lots of time with family and friends and really appreciate all of our blessings in life! This blog is an online journal, scrapbook/ baby book for our growing, busy, wild, little family. If you are looking for grammatically correct, politically correct, stimulating information on current events, I am sorry I can't provide that for you here, but I can tell you what my children are up to and how they are growing on a semi-regular basis. That is in between changing diapers, kissing boo boos, and pouring the chocolate milk!
Welcome to the Bass Family Blog! :)
