I'm not allowed on the slide anymore. I can't hold his sweet hands and lead him through the halls. It's my first step in letting him go, but he's ready to fly and he will SOAR. And you better believe I'm there in my heart and ready to catch him and dust him off each day. He's covered in prayer, he's my first born love, he's got this. Kindergarten, here he comes!! This picture was taken on the playground at the park when he was 1!
Our drop off was quick, it was a rainy day and I was sad we didn't have more pictures and we weren't even allowed in the halls, but it was probably for the best. I held it together, but I cried in the car with Franklin. (He didn't really get it, but was sweet). I then went to a breakfast with other moms that was aptly called a "Sip and Sob" since we had all dropped off our kindergarteners for the first time. We looked at baby pictures and their first day pics and said a prayer for our children and their teachers.
I read this book to DF before bed, and when the baby cried out at 3:00 I had a hard time falling back asleep. So... I crept into DF's room and rubbed at his sweet face and said the same words I had read to him right before bed; I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always, as long as I'm living my baby you'll be.
Thursday night after open house we went to Razorback pizza with several other families. The kids were over excited and running wild. We were telling Nora not to run and to be careful but she was trying to keep up with the big kids and ran right off of the stage and hit her head on he concrete floor. It was about 3 feet tall.
It was awful. But no open wound or concussion. A doctor and a few nurses were there and they checked her out. Said they thought she looked fine so we didn't take her in. We watched her closely all night, checking her pupils. The next morning she woke up with a shiner and it's continued to change colors by the hour. It's dark purple now which we told her looks like make up and she loves that. We went to the circus on Saturday and I added purple eye shadow to he other eye and let her wear lip gloss and she felt so glamorous.
She is one tough cookie, I just wish she would stop trying to prove it!! I wish I could wrap her in bubble wrap from head to toe!
She is so precious to me and I have been enjoying her so much lately. She happier since getting her tonsils out. I think she felt bad most of the the time :(. Her disposition has changed somewhat and she seems happier overall. I am soooo grateful she is feeling better, now if we could get this eye healed! I pray for her health and protection, ALL the time!
I put the biggest bow she has on to try to mask it...not sure it worked. :)
Nora already knew her teacher was Mrs. Bogle but she loved seeing her new class and cubbie! She's very excited to begin her 3 year old class!
David Franklin found out who his Kindergarten teacher is and it's who we were hoping for, Ms. Roberson! I've known her my entire life and she loves him already. She's a long friend of my moms and her son, Harry and my brother David were good friends and played tennis together. So special that she's his teacher! He will be in great hands.
Madelyn came and told us goodbye before she left for college and we were all sad but especially Nora. The Albright girls have been our babysitters and a huge part of our lives and we will miss Madelyn SO much! We are proud of her and the woman she's become and know she will do great things.
Thanks for loving my babies and taking such good card of them! You are like family to us!!
The last week of summer we soaking it up with fun activities galore. Memory making days for sure! I'm holding on to my big boy before he goes to kindergarten next week and treasuring this time with them all!
Back to school party for the new kindergarteners at HSCC!
Lake day with friends. All of the kids did not actually ride the tube at one time- don't worry! We tied up in a cove and they were swimming and jumping off of it.
Fun at Magic Springs with friends!
DF did this big slide with his "girlfriend" Kate Van Bebber, over and over again. She's on his right. They are really good buddies but say they are boyfriend and girlfriend. Some of the boys have started teasing him about playing with a girl, etc, and it got to him a little bit, but still proudly says she's his girlfriend and loves to play with her. They are just sweet friends.
Supper picnic with Meme and Grandpa on the lake!
Lemonade stand- a childhood staple. They raised almost $50 after they each paid themselves $2 for their hard work. The rest they are donating to an animal shelter that Adalie visited. She said she wanted to give the money to "poor cats." She's going into second grade and did all of the signs. "The kids lemonade sell". Perfect!
And the fun continues- more swim parties, open houses and we are headed to the Big Top in little rock on Saturday!
My baby is 6 months old today. How can that be? He is precious and special and we are all crazy about him. He twinkles his blue eyes at you when he makes eye contact and it's so amazing. He will go happily to anyone but he has his favorites. He is a delight and we love you Baby Bubby!!
We've started trying some new baby foods and big surprise...haha, he likes them! Here he is trying avocado. Now he doesn't get much down and he actually plays with it and gums it around a lot but he likes eating!
He loves his cereal and night and really eats a big bowl of that!
Big bro feeding him organic sweet potato for the first time and Nora assisting since she was the cook's big helper.
Since Mammers retired at the college, she said she is now in the grandma business. She is going to keep Isaac while I teach on Tuesday/Thursday. With this new time on her hands, she's decided to make her fresh baby food like she did when we were babies. We are all already benefitting from her new career change!! :)
We didn't do this with the others, but better late than never. Isn't strange that we're doing it for #3 and I didn't for #1? It seems like you hear the opposite... Everyone does it all for their first baby and is too tired by the last. We like to mix it up around here :))
Precious boy is sitting up for a long time now on his own.
He flashes these huge smiles that just melt you heart. He's the sweetest, baby boy and mostly VERY happy. He likes to be with his people and he really likes to be held the most- uh oh.
What he's up to:
Still no strict schedule but honestly that's been impossible or we'd be landlocked. Hopefully school routine will help with that. Still breast feeding. Wears a 4 diaper although 5 is probably best. He's trying to scoot on the floor and go. I'm afraid it won't be long. Great eye focus and pounces for an object he wants. Can't put a Paci in his own mouth yet. He's teething and drooling lots but nothing has popped through yet. He's started to try to talk, some time it's very high pitched screeching. Loves his brother and sister and being in the action.
He was sleeping great but with travel he got messed up and has had ear trouble too. Probably that was also due to travel so we are patiently waiting on that to get figured back out. Some nights more patiently than others :)
Poor Franklin really needs a good night's sleep. He started a new job at Simmons First Bank. He got a promotion and it's a really good Arkansas bank. He likes the size and the culture, and they are even growing more. He is very excited about his new opportunity! He started last week and is really liking it. We are proud of him!
DF went to kanakuk day camp last week. He had a great time and won the "Barnabus award" which is the encourager award. His two character traits were honesty and generosity. I was happy he had the experience.
Mommie Boo went home last week. She went home to be with The Lord, and although we will miss her very much, we are thankful for her long and healthy life and legacy of family, friends, fun and travel, and more she leaves us. I am happy I got to know her so well through the years, and spend some good time with her and the kids since her move to Hot Springs. It will be a big void because we saw her every few weeks these past years.
While she went to her heavenly home, all of her family went to her Earthly home, her beloved Corpus Christi. She was a Texan through and through and I'm sure it would have made her very happy to have us all there together. If only she were with us.
Nora got to go to Sparkman Ranch for the first time. Franklin loved getting to take her there. Mommie Boo's parents bought the land, Nora's namesake.
She found some deer sheds.
I flew down later with these two! They were sweet boys.
They loved looking for sea shells. We got to enjoy some time at the beach after Boo's service. It was very well attended by her numerous friends, and was a very nice tribute.
This little guy got pushed around in a pink princess stroller and took a nap under his sister's Minnie Mouse cover up. He didn't seem to mind :) he took a great nap at the beach.
We sent Mommie boo a message in the sand.
These cousins wanted matching astronaut suits from the Houston airport. They say they will be their Halloween costumes! NASA would be lucky to have them on staff. Maybe one day.
We had a good time being together and remembering a special lady. One we all love and miss.
I am Amanda and I love being a wife and mother. I have the family of my dreams! Motherhood is the most fulfilling, exhausting, rewarding, difficult, fun, and important calling on my life right now. Franklin and I have been married for over 9 years and I am lucky I get to live life with such a great husband and father. We are the proud parents of David Franklin, Nora and Isaac. We have a puppy, Maple, who has added lots of energy to the house! ;) We love to travel, spend lots of time with family and friends and really appreciate all of our blessings in life! This blog is an online journal, scrapbook/ baby book for our growing, busy, wild, little family. If you are looking for grammatically correct, politically correct, stimulating information on current events, I am sorry I can't provide that for you here, but I can tell you what my children are up to and how they are growing on a semi-regular basis. That is in between changing diapers, kissing boo boos, and pouring the chocolate milk!
Welcome to the Bass Family Blog! :)
