iPhone picture update

We've been having some fun summer days and tried to beat the heat today at Jump City. Nora loved it and even climbed up the slides.
We had some fun with the Brown cousins when they came to Arkansas and we celebrated Mommie Boo's 88th birthday today with her! It's such a treat that we get to join in on the celebration of such a special lady who is crazy for her grandchildren and great- grands too!

I'm a....

Serpent, salamander, blackie the cat, a bad guy, a baby, a giant, Goliath, a baseball player, an alien, a t-Rex ...and there are others I can't think of from yesterday. It starts first thing in the morning and lasts all day long.

My little boy loves pretending! He will say over and over "I'm a....." and if you don't say ok and call him whatever he wants to be he will continue to repeat it. He must have confirmation. He even wants me to call people and tell them he's blackie the cat or whatever it may be. Often times, I'll call him what he wants and he'll say. But really I'm a...
I must say it gets pretty exhausting to keep up and if I slip up and actually call him David Franklin, he says I'm NOT David Franklin, I'm a red dinosaur.

We may have an actor on our hands. As much as it wears me out it, it makes me laugh and I absolutely love that he uses his imagination!

Three Amigos

We went on a triple Mommy/Son date this afternoon. David F. and I went to the matinee with Avery and Mrs. Casey McBride and Ashton and Mrs. Marci Herndon. We saw Madagascar 3 in 3D and then went to Fisherman's Wharf for dinner. We thought the movie was cute and the boys loved eating outside at the Warf...running wild! Feeding the ducks, waving at boats, jumping off benches, etc. After about my 10th "no" in a row, I drank my glass of wine and tried my best to refrain in using that word and letting the boys play and have fun together. And boy did they... The love they have for one another is something to see.
I love getting one on one time with each of my children individually and I'm thankful for my sweet boy and date today. He even fed me a bite of popcorn and let me sneak a kiss!!

Curious George

We have started a "Summer To Do" list and put it on our fridge and it's been so much fun! It's made our days much more eventful than if we didn't have the list. I forget to do these things and we end up doing the same ole things.

They are simple items like pancakes for dinner night, ride bikes, read a new Bible Story, etc. but one that I'm so glad I put on there is library. We've been twice this week and today we met Curious George which is one of David Franklin's very favorites... We just love that curious monkey!

After that we picked up lunch and brought it to Mommie Boo's to have a visit with her. Fun day for us all!

Beach Trip 2012

We spent the past few days on the Bass Family Vacation with Meme and Grandpa and the Vaughts.  We had a wonderful time being together, eating yummy seafood, and stepping away from the day to day routine at home.

We joined Meme and Grandpa in Point Clear, AL at The Grand Hotel for one night and 1/2 a day on our way down and it was gorgeous!!  David Franklin had such a great time there at the pool and the beach on the bay, he said I don't want to leave the Alabama beach.  They had a golf course there that Franklin was very interested in checking out another time.

Then we all ventured down the panhandle a bit to Mexico Beach, FL for a few days.  Franklin and I had never been there before.  It was a calm, clean beach and being there almost felt like stepping back in time. It was throw back, and had characater and a nostalgic feel.  Where we stayed, we were very close to the water and sat out on the porch for meals and togetherness time. (Where we would also hide away from summer showers)  We spent a lot of time on the beach playing in the sand, riding boogie boards, playing in the waves, doing a little reading, and crab hunting.  David Franklin caught his first crab and he was so proud and called himself a "mighty, real, crab hunter."  He seemed to grow up and gain some independence this trip Franklin and I both noticed.  He enjoyed being with his cousins so much and would want to do anything they did.  He loved the sand, and  Nora loved the water. She would try to run straight towards it and kick her legs in delight in the waves.  She got her first taste of salt water and I think she's now a beach baby!
The men and Robbie went deep sea fishing and caught king mackrel that Grandpa grilled for lunch one day and it was quite tasty.  David Franklin and Nora were fans too.  Nora ate quite an array of seafood, scallops, fish, shrimp, etc. She's such a good little eater.  She had strep throat before we left and caught a nasty cough and runny nose while we were there that turned into two ear infections and a bad case of diaper rash.  If that girl could only go on one vaction healthy, I swear we wouldn't know what to do with ourselves!  She is such a tropper, and I'm so proud of her I can't even articulate it.  She has such a sweet, gentle spirit, even when she feels crummy.  If she was in her daddy or my arms, she was ok, so that is where she spent a lot of her time...especially at night.  She also didn't mind snuggling with her Meme :)

Our trip was very slow paced, and casual. I never wore shoes other than my flip flops, and the kids hardly wore shoes at all!  David Franklin did most of his playing without a shirt and sand stuck to our skin somewhere was a constant.   We always enjoy being together as a family and the time the kids got to spend together with their cousins is invaluable.  Memories of a lifetime.  Thank you Meme and Grandpa for inviting us and taking such good care of us!!
