Book Signing

Not everyone's aunt is #5 on the NY Times Bestseller list!! Not many at all, but YaYa is!

We are so proud of Lauren. David Franklin and I went to her book signing in Little Rock on Tuesday afternoon at Wordsworth Books. She did a short reading and DF listened quite carefully and was whispering questions to me about YaYa's "story" much to our amusement.

We were glad we got to be there and it's so neat to hear how inspired others are by her and how much enjoyment she brings to people's lives.
Go YaYa!!!

NLB is 9 months old

My baby is getting so big. I saw it today for the first time today and it blew my mind.

She is the cherry on top and we are crazy for our baby girl. Happy 9 monthday, Nora!

After our doctors visit today I have her stats:
she's in the 75% in her weight and head size and 50% in height.

She also got told she has two bad ear infections and RSV....she's sick :( They took her blood, gave her a shot, another round of antibiotics, and we are giving her breathing treatments. This is our family's first time being diagnosed with RSV and it's the pits! I'm ok with giving some extra TLC though!

DFB hits the slopes!

We got to meet the Eldridge's in Aspen/Snowmass over President's Day weekend and it was DFB's first time on skis. He went to ski school and although it got started off with a bumpy start (he got strep throat and I got called to pick him up an hour into his first day) he sure was cute in all of his gear. We still have a ways to go on learning to how to ski however ;)

We all enjoyed our time together with our good friends and Nora even got to go up the gondola for a quick view of the mountain before she fell fast asleep in the bjorn.

Family tradition

I was pretty sentimental this Valentine's Day....
Maybe it's because it was Nora's first or maybe it's because I'm looking at how long and big my boy has gotten. Maybe its because i decorated our kitchen table this morning and it was pretty pitiful but it thrilled David Franklin, and his sweet spirit truly appreciates the small stuff.
Maybe it's because I gave my classes candy and they loved it like bunch of 3rd graders would.
Maybe it's because I love my husband dearly.
Maybe it's because our romantic dinners for two have turned into pizza dinners for four in our house shoes.
Maybe because we all danced in candlelight together afterwards and had a "group hug."
Maybe it's because I made heart shaped blueberry muffins from the muffin tins my Aunt Lois gave my mother to use when I was 6 months old with the note she wrote my mom still in the box from 1981.
Maybe it's because I can't remember a Valentines Day from my childhood without those muffins and continuing on the tradition makes me feel like I'm honoring and strengthening my family's legacy.
Maybe it's because as I put David Franklin to bed tonight, I asked him what his favorite part of the day was and his answer was the blueberry muffins. Not the candy, party at school, presents, or playing at playground- and when I brought all of those up he said, "no, the muffins."

Kiddo funnies

1.) DFB locked Nora and I out of the house last week. We had gone for a walk and he went in before I got Nora out of the stroller. He was in his batman costume and was "keeping the bad guys out of our city..." and locked the back door and I had no keys.
Thankfully it was 10 til 5:00 so Franklin could leave work early and let us in. We learned he can lock, but not unlock a door.

2.) I asked him if my hair smelled good when I was right out of the shower and it was still wet, he said it smelled like "yucky milk." ouch.

3.) He asked me how Nora came out of my belly at the hospital. When I gave a vague answer about the doctor he got in my face and said "but HOW did the doctor take her out?... Just tell me." Seriously, he's 3 and he not only wants birth details but can already tell when I'm skating around an issue!

4.) I'm thinking Nora is ready for more table food...? But sadly she's going to have to wait a long time for cinnamon rolls. Licking the oven door was a great try though!
