For Father's Day, we went out on the lake after early church and naps. My mom watched Nora indoors so we could head out on the water for a little bit. I even pulled Franklin and David F. for his first spin on the tube. He didn't love it, but didn't hate it either. I think he will warm up as the summer progresses. The Hurtados and McBrides joined us and it was chaotic but so much fun! Happy Father's Day to all of you dads who do so much for your families and children and sacrifice so much for others. Fatherhood is a special, one of a kind love, and all of us who benefit from it are blessed. Thank you Frankie B. for being such a great daddy! We love you and think you Kick Bass! :) (a little inside joke and reference to the fish card that DF picked out)
Lately we've been just hanging out. We stay pretty close to home most days but I am starting to want to venture out more and more. Sister and I watch David Franklin play outside (as long as I can stand it with this heat) and Nora and I have been going on little strolls around the neighborhood, shopping outings, and lunch dates with Daddy. David Franklin has had lots of fun things too. Fishing with daddy, play dates with friends, and going to the swimming pool with Lyndon have all been huge hits. We've been enjoying our summer but still taking things pretty nice and easy... which is just the way summer should be lived.
David Franklin wants to "hold her" by himself all the time and tells me to take my hands off. Well, I don't oblige him and take my hands off, but yesterday I let him hold her in the chair with me and got the sweetest pic...love these babies so much.
This weekend we had lots of visitors, but some of our favorites were these little people...Amy and Louisa and Cassie and Jake came to visit and and see Miss Nora. David F. didn't know what to do with all of these babies around, but he said "I be sweet to them" and he really was. He really LOVED Louisa and would try to kiss her and bring her "soft toys." They were all adorable!
It is such a crazy feeling to look at your best friends and feel the joys of our past (and being kids ourselves) while looking at each other's children and sharing in the joy of parenthood and our future. It's really a beautiful thing. I love these girls and their children SO much. If only Atlanta was closer!
He was rocking her in her car seat and singing to her :)
It's summer time and we are feeling it at Mammers'. She got him a plastic swimming pool for her backyard and you would think it's Olympic size with fountains the way he talks about it. He tells everyone he sees. I think part of the appeal was going to pick it up at Lowe's and riding with it on top of my car, with Mammers hanging on to it out of the sunroof...the adventure of it all! Mammers has ice cream cones and rainbow sherbet and a little boy couldn't be happier than out on her deck, in his pool with his ice cream!
Meanwhile, Nora and Mommy have stayed mostly inside. A 100 degree temp (with heat index) and a baby under 2 weeks old makes it tough for the pool party, but we will be able to join in the fun soon enough!
We had our first doctor's visit on Tuesday and Meme went with us, which I SO appreciated!
She got a great report and is only 2 oz. away from her birth weight! Her sleep is AMAZING. Truly, blows me away. Last night I fed her at 9:00, gave her a dream feed at 1:00, and then again at 6:00am. GO NORA! AKA, Snora :)
Her first week stats: I don't have her percentiles, which I wanted but oh well... Weight- 7 lbs. 3.7oz Inches- Head 13.5, length 19
I am Amanda and I love being a wife and mother. I have the family of my dreams! Motherhood is the most fulfilling, exhausting, rewarding, difficult, fun, and important calling on my life right now. Franklin and I have been married for over 9 years and I am lucky I get to live life with such a great husband and father. We are the proud parents of David Franklin, Nora and Isaac. We have a puppy, Maple, who has added lots of energy to the house! ;) We love to travel, spend lots of time with family and friends and really appreciate all of our blessings in life! This blog is an online journal, scrapbook/ baby book for our growing, busy, wild, little family. If you are looking for grammatically correct, politically correct, stimulating information on current events, I am sorry I can't provide that for you here, but I can tell you what my children are up to and how they are growing on a semi-regular basis. That is in between changing diapers, kissing boo boos, and pouring the chocolate milk!
Welcome to the Bass Family Blog! :)
