October 3, 2008

Our countdown is wrong- it isn't 10 days any more it's 4!! We went to the doctor today and things are progressing right along....if David Franklin doesn't come sometime in the next few days, we are scheduled to induce this Friday, October 3! This is really exciting for lots of reasons but one is really special to Franklin's family. October 3rd is his late grandfather's (Daddy Uh-oh's) birthday. He would be 90 years old.

We are THRILLED that this baby is coming this week. Franklin wanted to go to bed at 8:00 tonight because he thinks he only has a few good nights left...too bad you can't save sleep!! Please keep us in your prayers this week as we pray for a healthy and safe arrival for David Franklin Bass. We feel so blessed and happy! Neither of us can stop smiling as we think about greeting this little life that we have wondered about, prayed for, nurtured, and have already grown to love so much. Life is good!!!

The Last Days of 2

Summit Bank Shower

Franklin gets to open some gifts!

Golf Outing

I haven't blogged much recently because I really haven't had much to tell. We haven't been able to travel very far and we both have cleared our calendars in case a baby comes. Last week we had an after hours shower at Summit Bank and I had to post pictures of Franklin opening gifts- he opened almost all of them! It was his one and only baby shower to be invited to so he took full advantage. It was a lot of fun.

I didn't go back to teaching this fall so I have been trying to keep myself busy. I have been reading a ton- I finished 3 books in about 5 days! I haven't read this much my whole life. My brother Jason, sent me some books that his girlfriend Lauren wrote. That's right- she is an author of this series called Inside Girl. They are really great, light, fun little reads about high school girls in New York City (pretty Gossip Girlish, but not as heavy duty). I really enjoy reading but I am also glad that good tv is starting back up, like Dancing with the Stars tonight :)

This weekend we went on our last boat ride of the summer. The weather was wonderful so I also went and rode around in the golf cart while Franklin played golf. It's been a while since I have done that and it is really pretty fun. Wives, if your husbands golf, you should fill up a little ice chest and go with once in awhile. No ice chest for us this time- but still fun. I was hoping that going over all of those bumps would just bump this baby on out :) No such luck.

We did a little last minute shopping, and a lot of going out to eat. Breakfast is my new favorite meal of the day and especially to go out for it!! I don't know why they say in your third trimester your appetite slows down- mine has spiked!! Yes, the heartburn has too, but it's like I cannot get enough food! It isn't exactly a good thing, but oh well. The diet starts soon enough...

I went to the doctor today and have dilated even more. Things are progressing so that was fun news to get. It is a VERY exciting time and when I read other blogs and what mommies have to say about their children, I get all teary-eyed. I must admit it is also strange in a way. These are the last days that we are the kids, that it's just us and we can do whatever we want to do (sort of). I know it is all a good change, and I cannot wait to experience this miracle but it feels like I'm leaving my childhood...although I don't think "childhood" includes the late 20's!! :)

Ready!! Set!!....wait

Well, we have been working and working and we think we are ready! Car seat is in the car and everything. We haven't packed for the hospital yet, but that is up next. I have had requests for updated nursery and belly pics so here you go!

I had an artist sketch a mural to be painted on the wall behind the crib and I LOVED it, but once we put our house on the market that idea didn't make much sense. I don't think that would help sell the house, and who knows how long we would get to enjoy it. Oh well, we will wait and paint it in the new house:) I think since I know I am missing that, in my mind the nursery isn't as cute as I had envisioned it. But it is really sweet and cozy and I am happy with how it turned out. I trying to find a black and white rug, I would love a houndstooth one. Any ideas?? I have looked online and found one but it was over $1,000 so I think I'll pass and keep looking. Other than that, we are pretty much finished.

I have less than 4 weeks to go. Weeks- I can't believe we are now talking weeks not months!!! Have a great weekend everyone.

Last Baby Shower

The hostesses (minus Heather, Brooke, Randi and Molly)

Rachel, me and Blaine- like all of our prints :)

My Fabulous Grands Ellen!!

This weekend was a big weekend!! It was (of course) the Razorback Little Rock game. Sitting in the bleachers didn't sound like much fun to me (my rib cage feels like it might explode) so I passed but Franklin had a great day of tailgating and football. I am so glad we won, even it it was just barely...

While he was playing with the boys I was playing with the girls and it was SO much fun!!! We had a baby shower at Rachael J's and it was so nice- they really out-did themselves. It was so much fun getting so see so many people and David Franklin got some GREAT things. He has a better closet than I do!! We are all set- now all we need is a baby :) Franklin and I really appreciate all of our friends and family and the love this baby is getting before he even arrives!!!

I go to the doctor again tomorrow for our check up. It is still early so I am not too anxious yet. It's fun going to the doctor now because we are getting to find out more information about how close we are getting to meeting the little guy.

A Few Updates

I went to the doctor yesterday afternoon and I was told that I am dilated to 2 cm! I am only 35 weeks so I wasn't even expecting to get checked, much less for there to be anything actually happening!! The doctor said that his head is low too. All good news! He said that this doesn't really mean much, that I could stay like this until my due date or we could have a baby in a few weeks. (Who knows) He didn't tell me to take it easy or anything and said I could still walk but I am just going to be paying closer attention now. It does mean that we are getting closer to welcoming a baby into this world....woo hoo!!

Also, as many of you know we are going to be moving to Hot Springs. Franklin has been transferred and will work for Summit Bank of Hot Springs. We are very excited!! We will miss the people of Arkadelphia but it is only 30 minutes away so not far at all. He won't officially start until the end of the year, and will be working in Arkadelphia some and going back and fourth some. We have put our house on the market and won't start looking in Hot Springs until we sell ours- I don't want to get my heart set on one and it sell before we can do anything. This will be a slow transition which makes me happy, I think I would be pretty overwhelmed otherwise!!

A lot going on with us!!! We are baby focused right now and that is our main priority, but if you know anyone looking in South Arkansas- send them our way :)
